A dream we dream TOGETHER is reality!

“Where would You have me go? What would You have me do? What would You have me say, and to whom?”

 – A Course In Miracles

You know, every day we get up and try to “make things happen” – especially with the Western mindset. There is nothing wrong with this per se, but many times we can push ourselves so hard that we are just tired, worn out and feeling empty.

This is not a thriving life.

As we step out further onto The Path, we Seekers are asking for more than just the rat race. We are sick and tired of letting “the economy”, the “stock market”, the “government”, the “media” and all other kinds of things “out there” determine how we feel. None of these things are bad. But the way they are going has a lot of us asking, “There HAS to be another way, right?”

Yes, the reality is, our global economy is in a certain state right now that doesn’t promote the perception of widespread abundance. Yes, the stock market is up and down and all over the place. Yes, it feels like many folks in the government are fighting just to fight instead of having our best interest in mind. Yes, the media seems to be full of all kinds of negative things to say about the world.

But what of it?

Everything that is happening in the world today is a reflection of our collective inner state of being. We are not victims to these things or anything “out there”. And problems “out there” cannot be initially solved “out there”, but “in here”. Which means that rules, laws, regulations and more policies cannot change the world. The only thing that can change the world is each and every one of us waking up and changing ourselves.

It’s so easy to get caught in the outward drama of the world, because it helps us stay distracted from ourselves. But, it is ourselves, far more than the world, which we must change.

How do we do that? By remembering that the outside world of form is but an affect of our inner world of thought. To change the forms we see, we must change our thoughts about the forms.

Which is why these questions from A Course In Miracles are so powerful. Instead of asking, “What is wrong with the world today? What can I make happen today? How can I just get by?” Let us instead ask these questions of The Uni-verse. Let us open up and allow ourselves to be guided, to let Love from within help make new decisions, new choices and, as a result, create new outcomes.

Let us step out of blaming all the things in life that can be blamed, and take responsibility. If you are concerned about the economy, make it your intention to buck the trend and be a living example of abundance in the midst of “lack”.  If you’re mad at the government, get out and do something about it. Be a Love Activist. Try to make change at a local level, one step at a time. If the news is soooo depressing, TURN IT OFF!

I haven’t watched “the News” since 2004. Instead of watching the effects, I decided to make new causes – to let my Internal Guide guide me, instead of the fear-fueled media.

The economy, the government and the media will change WHEN WE DO. The people in these fields are doing the best they know how to do with what they have. We need an economy and we need you to participate in turning it around. We need government and we need you to participate and take responsibility for your role in electing the people that get elected and being active citizens in the process. The media is run by numbers, if we demand different content, we will get different content.

We, the People, truly have the power and it is up to us to realize it.

Do not let your day start by being ruled by these outside forces. Let your answers come from within and know that you have the power to change the world. I am just one guy and I have co-created TDL to reach almost 600,000 people from Starbucks. You can do this and more! But you have to realize and act on your power. Step out of blame and step into responsibility.

And remember, as John Lennon said, “A dream we dream together is reality.”

So, instead of letting the outside world run your life, ask The Uni-verse, “Where would You have me go? What would You have me do? What would You have me say, and to whom?”

What’s It telling you and what are you going to do about it? The conversation is always FUN and interactive over on the BLOG, so come on over and let’s discuss!

Love and responsibility,

Mastin, while I appreciate not getting taken over by the news, and there are studies that show it can dcrease your happiness if taken too far, we must read what is happening in the world. There is too much injustice, and simply not everyone has the luxuries we have here to live a love filled life because many don’t have basics like food and shelter. That is not a choice for them, and to say that if they just trusted the universe better they would have those things is misleading and dangerous. We owe it to those people to stand up for them…. And to help them think in possibilities and remove the hatred…

    • Hey there Tallgirl! YES! I agree. I should have been more clear. Of course I keep up with with is going on in the world, just not via the normal “NEWS” on Fox/CNN, etc – with anchors who seem to be barking at me. Instead, I read online via BBC/Drudge Report/Huffington Post, etc – trying to get a good balance or right and left news. :o)

      • Pdmdgirl10

Mastin, Drudge is a right-winged biased publication (look up Matt Drudge and see for yourself) and Huff Po is just a conglomeration of others’ ideas! We don’t further our cause by stiking our heads in the sand and ignoring what’s happening in the world, or by reading opinions on-line. I work for CNN and can tell you my show states fact, and only fact. We allow viewers to make their own decisions. I love what you do and say this with all respect, but if you haven’t watched news in 8 years, you don’t know what it is you’re telling people to avoid.

        • i know that, i like to see the world from left, right up and down!

  • lingling lan

The Course of Miracles, I must say, is an interesting piece of literature. So since you don’t listen to the news, how do you exactly stay in touch with whats going on in the world, if it all?

    • Ellenmarietanner

I haven’t been watching the news for a few years now and trust me you can’t miss the important stuff!  Facebook is probably where I’m alerted the most, but between my network and the internet– the stuff you need to know makes it’s way to you.

    • Hey there Ian! YES! Great question. I didn’t mean for this article to come off advocating putting our head in the sand. I do NOT believe that at all. I should have been more clear. Of course I keep up with with is going on in the world, just not via the normal “NEWS” on Fox/CNN, etc – with anchors who seem to be barking at me. Instead, I read online via BBC/Drudge Report/NPR/Huffington Post, etc – trying to get a good balance or right and left news. :o) Watching it on TV stresses me out and seems to be more entertainment then facts these days.

  • Sarah_cornelia

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I find it encouraging to hear other people going through this process and being reminded of the possibilities within us.

    • you are welcome Sarah! We are in this together! :o)

  • Ellenmarietanner

Yes!  This is a beautiful articulation of why I have not watched the news for several years!  This is not to say that I advocate for turning a blind eye to the unnecessary pain and struggle in the world– I know that I will always find out about the events that need my attention.  I hold myself deeply responsible for serving where I am called to heal the world with love and service of my unique gifts.  And I am able to do this and be much more clear and efficient in this mission when I keep my internal state decluttered from media drama.

I am still finding my way in terms of political involvement.  I turned my attention away from election drama a couple years ago and stopped voting because none of the candidates or their messages resonated with me and I don’t agree with voting from a place of fear.  I am not angry or harbor ill will- I just don’t think it’s worth my energy– I am busy working on changing the world and hopefully eventually politics by doing the work I do.  Although, with each election year I wonder if I should be more involved and vote anyway.  I’m still figuring that out– and if anyone has feedback…I’m all ears!

    • exactly! It’s SO important to stay engaged and yet at the same time, remember, that the Source is not “out there” it’s “in here”.

Mastin, Again ~ I say,  THANK YOU! I like to remember the words of Gandhi, “be the change  you wish to see in the world”. Remember  the way of self actualization, how powerFULL one person can be when directed by the their highest self, highest truth. I haven’t had TV in over 3 years and it seems every time I listen to NPR, BBC to “get caught up” ~ I hear the the things that remind me, I have the power here, now, in my own community to create and fulfill. I will continue to be the change I wish to see ~ and I will continue to ask, “How can I best serve thee- Thy will(not mine)be done”. Love on

  • “BE LOVE AND YOU WILL SEE LOVE” is a quote I received in the middle of the night from my higher self almost one year ago. All the information about love is out there.  We know what to do, if we are willing to learn and read the information from teachers’, books, workshops, and of course Mastin.  This is an age where it is timely to “BE LOVE” and PRACTICE.  The more I act from who I REALLY am (love) and take a back seat to my EGO, I am seeing more changes than EVER before in my family life. My husband is starting to pick up books and he is in the learning phase of LOVE and starting to remember what he already knew as a baby.  Believe me when I say, THIS IS A MIRACLE and he is the last guy anyone would ever think to look at all this “Love” stuff. I know one of the reasons is because I am “breaking the nose” of our marriage and surrendering to love (check out my blog on that story). My mentor, CInnamon Lofton, tells me all the time,”Kathleen, you do not need to read one more book, it’s timely to be it and go own your birthright.” As I continue to heal my famiies ‘so-called’ challenges, I know I am helping the world energetically.  This is a FACT JACK. Now, I am willing to write in my blog and help others’ by sharing my own personal story (After all, life is just a stage of stories).  I can talk the talk all day long, but in order for the world to change… people need to see me walk the walk.  I am.  butterflymaiden7.blogspot.com/ ,

    Thank you for this.

I looooove not watching the news!

For me it is important that I am discerning with what I allow into my world. It is easy to keep up with world events and what is important just by talking with people, good old people connection is such a wonderful thing.  Listening to the news broadcast is, for me, not keeping up with world events, it is a tirade of most things bad.

There is so much good happening in the World and I want to be part of that, so I feel if I concentrate on that aspect, then I can actually help….in a good way.

Thanks for your work Mastin xx

Thanks so much Mastin! Loved this one – I am facing redundancy today (from a government job) so this post is very fitting for me!

  • Deborah Wall

What I love about this post is it’s empowering. Taking responsibility is empowering – even though it feels overwhelming sometimes. When I stand up and take responsibility for my world I feel like anything is possible. Great Post. Thanks

  • Jamnmom2002

I haven’t watched the news since 9-11… that day changed our lives forever… and that was a huge part of my ability to recover… and don’t think I don’t get some strange looks from folks when I tell them that I will watch the news when it is the GOOD NEWS that is on it… but then again, I’ve gotten back into the groove of LIVING MY LIFE without the news – I create my own good news channel right here in my own world <3 I always appreciate all you do Mastin 😀 Thank you thank you thank you <3

Curious… what’s with the “from Starbucks” comment?  What does Starbucks have to do with you reaching 600,000 people?

  • The famous John Lennon quote is actually Yoko’s!

“A dream you dream alone may be a dream, but a dream two people dream together is a reality.”

― Yoko Ono, Grapefruit: A Book of Instructions and Drawings, 1964, p. 193

’cause dream you dream alone is only a
dream, But dream we dream together is reality.

― Yoko Ono, “Now or Never”, song from the double album “Approximately Infinite Universe,“ released in early 1973. All songs composed by Yoko Ono.

Lennon, in December 1980: As she said in one of her songs a long time ago, which was a quote from one of her books which was even twenty years earlier than that, “A dream you dream together…” or “A dream you dream alone is…” I don’t know, you’ll have to look it up. “A dream you dream alone is one thing, a dream you dream together is reality.” So we reestablished our dream together.

Sheff: [We both laughed. The actual quote turned out to be, “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.”]

― All We Are Saying : The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, by David Sheff, 2000, p. 16.
