I was talking with a client the other day about their career and they were very frustrated because making it as an actor in L.A. is hard. And they didn’t like being “rejected” by all the different casting agents, and this was causing my client quite a stir.
It’s interesting though because my client isn’t alone. I used to do this, too. Especially when I first started my last clothing company and even when I first started TDL. I was frustrated that it was so hard and wanted it to be easier.
The thing that I learned and am now trying to help my clients and you understand is that there are certain things in life you can expect based on where you decide to go.
For example, if you start a business, don’t expect to have a lot of free time.
If you get into a relationship, don’t expect life to be about just you.
If you want to act in L.A., expect to be rejected more in one week than most people are in their entire life.
If you want to be a successful entrepreneur, expect to fail MANY times.
If you want to be the boss, expect to start at the bottom.
AND – NOW HEAR ME! Just because you will have less free time, have to compromise, will get rejected, will fail and will have to start at the bottom, doesn’t mean that is WHO YOU ARE.
Don’t make your identity your circumstance. THAT’S the key. But ALSO, walk into what you are doing with EYES WIDE OPEN!
The circumstances of your present moment DO NOT define you. Who you are is an innocent child of The Uni-verse who can ask for GRACE at any time, who is blessed and who experiences miracles regularly when you do not block them with your fear and doubt.
And NONE of this means that you don’t have to work hard. But when you are driven by your intuition, when you see yourself SURROUNDED BY GRACE, when you co-create with The Uni-verse, expect it to be really hard at first and then watch as your life begins to be PULLED rather than needing to push it.
Life will become hard first because all the ways of doing things that used to work for you no longer work and so you need to adjust and learn the new way, in sync and in the flow with The Uni-verse. THEN, it will become easier once you learn the lay of the land.
Work hard, serve hard, give hard, surrender, let go and watch the miracles unfold. And expect the tough times. Don’t be a brat and think that you don’t have to go through them; that brat is just keeping you back from stepping into your greatness.
So what challenges, hard times, hard work and failures can you be grateful for? And do you see that none of those things is who you really are? Comment or email: [email protected]
