You Might Be Afraid Of Intimacy If…

Screen-Shot-2013-12-23-at-6.54.52-PM

You Might be Afraid Of Intimacy if… You often say you’re too tired. You say or feel you’re too busy all the time. You just happen to find yourself “sucked into” the TV each night. You are always critical of your partner. You pick a fight when you might get laid. Okay, fine. I’m giving… Continue Reading →

5 Forms Of Grace

lauriegerber

My clients are afraid to have difficult conversations with the people with whom they yearn to be closest. It’s scary to own something about yourself that isn’t so pretty. It’s even harder to tell someone that something they did, hurt your feelings or didn’t work for you. What if they refuse to admit it happened?… Continue Reading →

Creating Your Own Culture

lauriegerber1

Nature abhors a vacuum. That’s why if you don’t consciously create the culture in your home, a culture will nonetheless exist. Who or what will create the culture? The dominant person or the TV! If they are not doing a great job, I suggest you take over. I take this phenomenon for granted because it… Continue Reading →

Keep Your Resolution Mojo Strong All Year Long

lauriegerber1

I have to admit I let out a sad whimper when I read in People magazine that Lisa Kudrow doesn’t even bother making resolutions because she doesn’t like disappointing herself. Lisa, my old friend, so cynical so early in the New Year season! If we can’t get it up for our dreams at New Years,… Continue Reading →

Lead The Way For The Holidays

Screen Shot 2013-12-23 at 6.54.52 PM

I used to dread family holidays, claiming a distaste for the racist comments and bad jokes of my relatives. That was until my Handel coach taught me that I was “the author” of my life. Heady concept. In practice, what that meant is that I could actually “write the script” for family occasions, or at… Continue Reading →

Clean Out Your Money Muck

Very few of us are fortunate enough to have a  great relationship to money. Personally, I wasn’t taught a ton in that regard when I was a kid. Sure, I learned to save, earn and be responsible with money. But I also observed my folks and decided that money was hard to come by, came… Continue Reading →

I Lost My Motivation

“I lost my motivation” is what a participant in one of my recent workshops about Designing Your Life told me when I asked her why her dream had not yet come true. I couldn’t help but find myself picturing someone looking for a lost child at a supermarket, an announcement going out over the loudspeaker… Continue Reading →

Have More Peak Moments!

When you think about your “peak” moments, you will find that they probably happened when you didn’t expect them or plan them. They happened when you were fully present and something unexpectedly wonderful unfolded. Patricia Moreno recounted such an experience at the beginning of Intensati class today (it’s an awesome spiritual fitness class she teaches… Continue Reading →

Being A Team Player

lauriegerber

Maybe it’s because I am a twin, but one of my default ways to relate to the world is like it’s a competition. I compare myself to others and feel better if I think I am better in some way. This is one of those traits that masquerades as helpful. It whispers in your ear… Continue Reading →

My Dream Is Coming True, Finally!

lauriegerber

I have news. Very good news. A big dream of mine is coming true. I want to teach as many people as possible how to fight for their dreams and tell the whole truth about themselves: what they dream of, how they feel, who they are. About four years ago, I decided (with a big… Continue Reading →

What Are We Teaching Future Generations?

My kids just got home from three weeks of summer camp. It was their first time being away that long and it was a big deal for them, and for me. I had a million questions about the friends they made, the activities they chose, the food, if they liked camping out, etc. Funnily enough… Continue Reading →

How To Win At Failing!

lauriegerber

There are lots of things in my life with which I am winning. But lately I’ve been re-assessing a bunch of business practices that haven’t been working. I’ve had to face failure in a way I never have before. In the past, I’ve been really good at avoiding situations where I might fail by bailing… Continue Reading →
