On Monday, my first 21-Day Mind/Body Cleanse with the incredibly talented wellness rock star, Dr. Frank Lipman, begins!
To give you an idea of the types of things involved in the “mind” portion of the program and to help those of you not joining us this time around stick to your resolutions, I want to share an exercise I created to help my clients stay on track and not feel overwhelmed by the onslaught of new ideas and concepts they we’re learning in therapy. This exercise, Blueprint for Daily Living, will help you streamline all the things you read, see and hear about living a healthy, fulfilling life, and put it into your words and daily actions you can take that support your vision of your dream life.
All you are going to do is list daily actions you are willing to take to support your vision.
You can pull out a pen and a piece of paper or use your computer to create a list of Positive Daily Actions and then make copies to place where you will see it often. You can write or type a new list every morning. You can use a paper calendar or the calendar on your phone, computer or tablet. Write sticky notes. Make it your desktop, phone or tablet background. Whatever style works for you and wherever you look often.
When you write something down, you’re more likely to do it. Using an actual pen and physically writing in my journal separates this daily ritual from my work and social media life in a way that produces more results. But feel free to do whatever feels good to you.
What are Positive Daily Actions?
Once you get clear on what your dream life like looks like, ask yourself what you can do on a daily basis to support that vision.
Here’s my list:
- Meditate
- Green Goodness (eat/drink my greens)
- Hydration
- Shake My Booty (exercise)
- Bells and Breathing (set an alarm on my phone for every 4 hours to stop and take 5 deep breaths)
- Pay It Forward (do at least one random act of kindness)
- Pick My Mantra (select a word or phrase to focus on today)
- Feeling State (how do I want to feel today)
- Be Courageous (take one leap of faith today)
- Gratitude (throughout the day, write down everyone/thing for which I am grateful).
*When you feel gratitude, you draw more experiences into your life for which to feel grateful.
What positive daily actions are you willing to commit to in order to bring your dream life to fruition? Share below. There’s accountability not only in writing, but also in declaring and sharing!
I hope you enjoyed this exercise and take the time each day to do these actions.
Love Love Love
