Feeling blocked? Here's why that's a good thing. - Daily Love with Mastin Kipp

Feeling blocked? Here’s why that’s a good thing.

“Where you stumble, there you find your treasure.”

That’s one of my favorite Joseph Campbell quotes. Why? Because he helps us to see our lives through a different set of beliefs.

It can be very easy to slip into blame, judgement, criticism and fear when life throws us a curve ball. We can quickly default back into survival patterns that don’t serve our Soul’s growth.

But… if we can choose to see that our stumbles are actually a wake-up call to pay attention – we can have a different relationship with life.

You can choose to believe that everything is random, or you can choose to believe that there is a Divine design to your life. What you can’t do it choose to see some events as random and others as Divine. That would mean that you are playing the role of God, and that’s never a wise role to play.

So, today… Let’s choose into the belief that everything that is happening is Divinely sent. Even the stumbles. Even the hurt. Even the sense of feeling “stuck”.

The thing about stepping onto the spiritual path is that you’ve got to give up the idea that your Creator works according to human logic.

There is a higher order, a higher perspective and a greater way to view the circumstances of your life. When you tap into this point of view and the accompanying set of beliefs, you see your life differently.

Here are some shifts you’ll see:

– You go from this is happening “to” me to this is happening “for” me.
– You go from wanting to know why something happened to learning the lesson.
– You stop blaming others and take responsibility for your part.
– You trade in fear for courage and apply that courage with action.
– You separate from what your friends, family and tribe think you “should” do and instead follow the call of your Soul, which deep knowing within.
– You no longer seek the approval of others, but instead follow your own path, regardless of what others think.

Sound good?

Hey there and welcome to Claim Your Power TV with your host Mastin Kipp, where each week we will guide you to live your purpose with passion! This week we’re going to talk to you about why feeling blocked is a good thing. If you feel stuck, if you feel blocked there’s a good thing.

And I want to start with a quote from the great Joseph Campbell and I’m going to read it so I don’t mess it up because it’s extremely profound and I don’t want to paraphrase it.

Joseph Campbell said this, “Where you stumble, there lies your treasure. The very cave you are afraid to enter turns out to be the source of what you are looking for. The damned thing in the cave that was so dreaded has become the center.”

Now think about this for a second. “Where you stumble, there lies your treasure.” If you’re feeling stuck, if you’re feeling blocked, there is a divine spiritual reason for why you are feeling this way. And what I’ve come to find is that when I feel blocked, when I feel stuck it’s a great lesson. See it’s easy to stay stuck for days, weeks, months, years or a lifetime, but if you start to ask yourself why am I stuck, there is always a return home to yourself. There is always some larger wisdom within you that’s asking to come forward.

And so my question for you is how could the cave that you’re afraid to enter be the thing that you’re looking for? What’s the cave that you’re afraid to enter?

Maybe you’re afraid to enter a healthy relationship. Maybe you’re afraid to lose weight. Maybe you’re afraid to start a business. Maybe you’re afraid to really live your purpose. Whatever that might be, know that instead of this being a problem, instead of this being life being unfair, or instead of this seeming like you’re completely out of control, could you reframe it as you’re divine lesson that for whatever reason you chose to learn in this lifetime? Could that be true?

Think about this: One of my great stories I love to remember is the story of Wayne Dyer who never met his father. He hated his father for years and years and years. He was a teacher and he was writing books and most of them were kind of technical-based books. And he really had this call to teach self-reliance. He went on this search to find his father even though his father was passed on. And he went to his father’s grave and yelled and cursed and said, “Why you? What happened?” and really got into all that negative energy. And then it lead him to the greatest realization of his life, which was this – he forgave his father. He realized standing over his father’s grave that perhaps his soul had chosen to pick a father like this so that Wayne could have the experience of relying upon himself. And Wayne came to teach personal reliance. You can read this. This is well documented in Wayne’s work. It happened on August 30th of I believe ‘74.

And this day was one of the most important days in Wayne’s life because he reframed the problem. He reframed being stuck. He reframed the issue at hand. And instead of blaming his father for never being there, he said oh my God, this is the greatest spiritual lesson because I’m supposed to teach this idea of self reliance so of course I don’t have a father I can rely upon; I had to learn to rely upon myself. And the famous story goes that he went and in two weeks wrote his massively huge bestselling book, Your Erroneous Zones, which put him on the map and was a huge part of why he was such a legend to this day.

And so the question for you is what is God or the universe or the Divine trying to teach you through being stuck? Where you’re stumbling, how is this your treasure? Another way to think about this is that your purpose tends to come from your wounds. That’s something that we’ve seen. We’ve seen so many people, so many clients who were wounded in a certain way and through the process of trying to heal learned tools and strategies and insights that they didn’t have before, and it helped them heal. And then all of a sudden they felt called to share everything they learned with other people to expedite their healing process.

So this is a real deep question for you. Maybe it’s something you can think on, you can journal on, you can meditate on. But the cave that you’re afraid to enter, where you’re stumbling – where are you stumbling right now? What cave are you afraid to enter? What are you blaming? What are you lashing out at? What are you angry about? Really get clear on this and then journal. How is this a great divine lesson? As Campbell said, “Where you stumble there lies your treasure. The very cave you are afraid to enter turns out to be the source of what you’re looking for.” How could your moment of stumbling, how could this be the thing that you’re looking for? If you meditate and get still and find a higher perspective on this I guarantee you will be guided to an answer.

And this is certainly why being stuck is a good thing because when you’re stuck, you go deeper within yourself to get greater clarity of spiritual answers.
