From my heart to yours

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. My mission in life to spread love in every way that I can. I believe that love is all there is. I also believe in freedom and that freedom is the ultimate expression of love. I believe that in the depth of your heart and mine, all we truly want is to love and be loved in return. I believe that when we experience the joy that comes with loving and being loved – that anything is possible, new potentials emerge and the best of who we are is brought forth. Everything I do, I do because I want that freedom and love for myself and for you.

It is because I am deeply committed to love, self-love and joy, I am struck with deep empathy by some of the responses I’ve received from my tweet about depression. I did not use the 140 characters I had to express myself wisely today. In the need for brevity I created a tweet that did more damage than good, and for that I apologize. It sounded judgmental and pejorative. That was not my intent.

My intention is to fearlessly have love for myself and share that love with others. I wish to provide solutions. I’ve had my own personal battles with depression, bi-polar disorder, ADD and addiction and it is from those experiences that these words were shared.

What I should have said was: “Selfishness can contribute to depression, being of service to others can help you feel better.” I have found in my own life that when I am helping others, focused on being of service and not thinking about my problems, I feel better. I have experienced that my depression starts with repression. When I isolate myself and just think about “my” problems or what other people did “to me” it only feeds the beast. So my conclusion has been when I am “repressed”, I end up “depressed”. I am not a medical doctor; I am not a psychiatrist – but I have overcome depression.

The other thing I’m not is a victim, and neither are you. There are solutions out there. There is hope. A better life can be yours! I’ve surrounded myself with the best people who ARE experts and it is through their help and my own work that I have come out the other end with a smile on my heart.

Because there has been so much interest in this topic, The Daily Love will be providing blogs from therapists, doctors, patients and our readers who all have either overcome depression or are experts at helping YOU manage and overcome depression.

Thank you for your honesty today. I look forward to continuing to serve you in the best and most loving way that I can.

All my love & Happy New Year!
