Everyday, we’re on some kind of a mission. Whether it’s to hit our quota, sweat out last night’s decadent wining and dining experience, or tackle the 57 other things we started last week but haven’t completed yet – we always have something to complete.
ALWAYS.
And that’s a beautiful thing. Can you imagine having NOTHING to do? Nothing to accomplish? Nothing to check off your to-do list? I know a blank page in your “to-do” manual may seem desirable when it feels like your “stuff” (emails, calls, texts, social media, errands, responsibilities, and so on…) never stops – and there is soooooo much on your plate – but before you declare your overwhelmed state, stop and think about how blessed you are to be so busy.
Instead of telling The Uni-verse: “I have so much on my plate…” declare to The Uni-verse: “I am creating a bigger plate!”
I relearned the value of this a couple months ago. I had numerous hat orders everyday, and I was shipping them all over the country and even internationally. I was excitedly hustling to the post office to send it off dozens of boxes and the orders kept piling in.
I was so delighted to know that my Self-Love Movement was reaching people in a fun and creative way. My dreams were now my reality and they were all coming together at lightning speed. At the same time, I still had every other avenue of my life to consider.
I was starting to feel like I couldn’t keep up with everything all once, and I said – out loud – to a friend, “I am SO overwhelmed. I can’t do all of this on my own.” Clearly The Uni-verse heard me, because the next day I didn’t sell ONE hat! Not a single order came in.
HA!
That was the first day I hadn’t sold one. I remembered the power of the statement “I AM” so I changed my story and said – out loud – “I am so blessed to have all of the orders that I do, and I’m excited to have more and more, every single day!”
The rest of the week, I sold hats every single day.
Not only that, I also decided to hire a personal assistant. I declared that having the extra support would allow me handle my life in every way. We can move mountains all by ourselves, but we don’t have to. I gave myself a break, but I also continued to tell The Uni-verse that my plate is HUGE, and I want more of whatever it is that is on its way to me.
Remember, The Uni-verse will only give you what you can handle. So, if you have a lot going on – feel good knowing that you are obviously someone who can rise above the choppy waters in the roughest of seas.
A good sailor does not become a legendary captain by sailing on calm, blue oceans. As for receiving support, a captain without a crew is just a lonesome sailor. Asking for assistance in something does not mean you are incapable. It’s working smarter, not harder.
Do you think Steve Jobs brought his vision to fruition all by himself?
Nope.
He had an army of people who were enrolled in his vision, and therefore, his vision was their vision. He had people supporting him every single day. Even the Lone Ranger had Tonto.
If you have “a lot going on” – you’re AWESOME. You’re not incapable to balance it all – otherwise The Uni-verse wouldn’t be dishing it out. If you need support, ask for it. It takes MORE strength and power to “try and do it” all on your own than to enroll someone into supporting you. Give yourself a break!
Be present to your inner and spoken dialogue. You will get whatever it is that you ask for – good or bad. It may not show up exactly the way you imagined, but it WILL show up. So, be gentle with yourselves, my Daily Lovers.
How do you handle your to-do list, and do you feel the freedom to ask for support when you need it? I’d love to hear about what you have going on right now. Your comments always make my day!
Love all that is you,
Jenna xox
