How can you give the gift of YOU today?

mk_treesWell, it’s the last day of the Caribbean Yoga Conference. It’s been such an amazing time here!

I’ve given two different talks about purpose while I’ve been here. And it’s amazing to me how much confusion there is around what your life’s purpose is.

Your purpose is not your job.

Your purpose is not your relationship.

Your purpose is not how much money is in your bank account.

Your purpose is not your children.

All these things are byproducts of your purpose, but in and of themselves, they are not it.

So – what is your purpose? In short, your purpose is to bring Love to every situation.

And what’s so cool about that is that there is never a lack of situations and people that need Love. To do this, we must first tap into Loving ourselves and allow ourselves to receive, and then BE the Love from our Higher Power or The Divine.

This is like planting ourselves firmly in the fertile soil of Love and allowing our action based on faith to take us to the next level of awareness.

When we live our lives as takers, life tends to dry up. Something is missing.

When we live our lives in service – this is the source of true fulfillment. So, instead of asking, “What can I take from this situation?” we begin to ask, “What can I give?”

Or, “How can I extend even more Love to myself and others right now?”

No matter what the economy or the government or other people might be doing, there is NEVER a lack of opportunities to GIVE. And when we wake up to this, we wake up to abundance.

People who are happy and rich are great at giving. They are great at adding value to other people’s lives. They are wonderful at finding problems and solving them.

This could be something in a romantic relationship, or it could be a larger issue or problem in the world. If we begin to ask a new question, we immediately leap from lack to abundance; and if we ask that question long enough, we will begin to experience this abundance in every area of our lives.

Your purpose is to make your life a gift of Love in every area of your life. Your purpose is to connect to yourself and The Divine, and live that connection daily and allow this gift or offering to show up in every area of your life.

How can you give the gift of YOU today?

As always, the action happens in the comments below. Leave a comment and join the conversation! The TDL Community thrives in the comments and it’s a GREAT place to get support!

Agree, just wanted to say keep up the great work, you inspire me daily to start my own business and write my book by replacing fear based thoughts with love and trust in the Divine. I am truly grateful for you.

Woke up this morning with the mantra “love is all ,love is all” and then I got today’s post 5 min later. Love when that happens!

  • Sandy

    I Love the Daily Love!!

  • Queeney

I needed to read you today.  Perfect message for me.  Thank you~

A suggestion to give away your Love, and where it will really be appreciated…Valentine’s Day is just around the corner.  While it’s a day to celebrate Love, it’s a very difficult day for those whose soulmate (spouses or committed partners) have passed away. Perhaps reach out to them with a card, flowers, phone call, take them out to eat or to the movies, etc.

I believe that my purpose is to offer my gift to the world.

yes, and offer it with love but love alone is not enough

My two cents for today  :-)

  • India Dunn

Mastin this is so very deeply perfect- I LOVE this paragraph “This is like planting ourselves firmly in the fertile soil of Love and allowing our action based on faith to take us to the next level of awareness.” Bless your heart ~ you speak volumes, and your purpose has brought us the truth. Thank you again for being an instrument of the Divine.

Something interesting happened this morning and I thought I would share. My driveway is lined with bushes which I trim every year in the fall so that the branches won’t dump snow on me when I clean snow off my car. I had trimmed the bushes but when it snowed, I realized that there was a branch still sticking out. I kept stumbling over the branch and catching my nylons on it. I kept making a note to go and get the trimmers to cut the branch but the trimmers were buried underneath all the winter shovels, etc. Today, finally dug out the trimmers to cut the branch. I grabbed ahold of the branch to cut it and realized that the branch was not attached to anything! I had already cut the branch but did not realize it. All I ever had to do was grab ahold of it and move it out of the way. The hard work had already been done.

I realized that a lot a problems are like this. We all do so much spiritual work to cut off the roots of our issues but sometimes we forget to get the dead wood out of the way. We keep stumbling over the same issues, not because the problem still has roots but because we just need to grab ahold of it and move it out of our way. We need to change the thought process and emotional response we always had when that problem came up for us. The roots are no longer there we just need to realize that and let go of our behavior pattern we previously used to deal with it.

That last paragraph is a real gem, Maureen.  Thank you.

This reminds me of a quote once said to me  “Your Rent For Life is To Serve”

  • Janice

We are a wealthy nation and yet 1 in 4 people has one paycheck a month that is too short after they pay the bills to buy food.  We all know these people but do not know these people.  I am one of these people but I can give my time at a food bank, I can  buy a jar of peanut butter, jelly and bread and make sandwiches for the migrant workers on the corner I drive by each day.  These men and woman are hungry every day.  They may not be able to say they are thankful, some out of pride, but their faces show that they are thankful.

There are Givers and Taker in this world , I try So Hard to be a Giver , and be around givers. Thanks this was Lovly .  <3 <3 <3

    • Linda

I needed to read suzanne’s quote, i also am a giver, but what do you do when the takers take advantage like with money or something stupid as cigaraettes.  I always help this person out at work but she takes advantage of me.  I still feel bad when she asks for money, and most of the time i have a few bucks, but she never repays.  do i still keep giving?  This has  baffled me for years.  I want to be kind and help people, and I do with others also, but sometimes especially with the one at work, i feel bad and taken advantage of.  Do I still give her money?

      • anonymous

Linda you’ve answered your own question by stating you feel bad and taken advantage of. I think the case of your co-worker you need to stop if it’s making you unhappy. But don’t stop giving there are so many people who need love and that includes your co-worker…love is free, so are smiles and kind words.

      • Julesr12

Never give a gift you cannot afford to give, and in this case I am not speaking of the gift in financials terms. What I mean is give from your heart without looking back and no, and I mean no ” hook”. It is impossible to be taken advantage of if you are taking responsibility for where you are coming from when you give. What’s going on in this situation is that you are not stopping yourself in the moment and saying ” hey is this something I really want to do or am I just setting myself up to create doubt , separateness , and resentment. Remember. …no hook no problem. Don’t give if you are in question. Let the other person do what they will. …. It’s there own experience and you are only responsible for you.

The gift I am giving THE WORLD (energetically) is the biggest one we can all give… if we are willing. It is simple. The human mind just wants to complicate it. Ghandi knew what we needed to do. And, I am doing it: “BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD.” Instead of looking at your loved ones, politics, religions, and etc…be courageous enough to look at…YOURSELF. It can be a pretty scary thing when you wake up to your own EGO. At least it was and still is at times for me. The practice is to render it meaningless. The practice is to breathe deep into your own divinity and know it is your teacher. The EGO becomes so subtle the more you practice. I speak from experience. So subtle that if you do not have a teacher who is the REAL DEAL (Much like Buddha), you can become even more EGO driven…without awareness. How do you find a teacher? Through me. I know that can sound possibly egocentric to your mind… “How dare I say that I have someone who is like Buddha; who is as small as a mustard seed and as big as an Aspen tree.” My reply is simple…”How dare I not?” My purpose is to pay what has been given to me…FORWARD. Her name? Cinnamon Lofton. I hope you meet her before she is no longer here. We only have this moment, and I hope there is SOMEONE out there reading this who is willing to HEAR me.

      I noticed you.
I began crying as soon as I looked at your comment, actually.

From all that I Am… from all that We are… and as one significant part of the Divine Whole, I thank you today. Please keep doing what you’re doing and don’t be afraid to put it out there more than you are at the moment.

I love you. Thank you so much.

I am aware that I don’t appear to be the most spiritual person, nor is my blog easy to categorise. But please read what I have to say. You have a strong presence, Kathleen.

You said it sister! Oh, and I did too!

I love this post and all the comments. It fits right in with my husband and mine conversations as we study Lynn McTaggart’s book, THE BOND. Lynn also has a free 27 page PDF on her website about how to change our consciousness from the ground up by creating BOND community groups based on love and giving. Keep up the great inspirations, Mastin.

To me, in Jewel’s song, “A Life Uncommon” one line capture the spirit of giving love rather that expecting it: “Ask more of yourself and not of others, and you will live a Life Uncommon.”  I include that song on many of my playlists, and when I hear it, I receive a gentle attitude adjustment for the day.  By way, this song is on her album, “Spirit”.  I highly recommend the album.  Jewel’s lyrics offer unique wisdom and reflections on love and spirit.

I really liked this post!  Each day is an opportunity for us to give love and BE love.  It’s all our choice.  It reminds me of a favorite saying/poem:

“This is the beginning of a new day. This day was given to me to use as I
will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is important
because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.When tomorrow comes, this
day will be gone forever, leaving something I have traded for it. I want it
to be gain, not loss;Good, not evil;Success, not failure; In order
that I shall not regret the price I paid for it.”
