The most important part about stepping into what’s possible is remembering what you once knew – that you can do ANYTHING and nothing can stand in your way of making your dreams a reality.
We all knew that when we were children, and then LIFE happened. We started to build walls around our hearts and we stopped allowing our imaginations to run wild. It’s how we learned to survive and prevent pain.
We think we’re doing ourselves a favor, but “protecting” our hearts and dreams actually PREVENTS us from having the most delicious experiences that life has to offer.
Fear is what keeps us from thriving on all levels. Playing it safe is no different than playing small, or playing to “not lose.” We must have the ups and downs to get the full spectrum of life.
Can you imagine going to an opera and ONLY hearing the high notes? It would be just as annoying as only hearing the low notes. You gotta have it all, and you GET to have it all!
One of my clients was talking about the breakthroughs he’s had since working with me and he said, “I finally believe that I’m worthy enough to have it all. I’m letting go of my fears and doubts because of your coaching. How do you do it? How can you be so fearless all the time?”
I told him that I, too, have fears. “I’m legitimately terrified of spiders and I scream like a little girl when I see those things. I don’t care how small they are – every spider is like a big, hairy tarantula to me.”
We laughed a bit at the silliness of my fear, because all fears are chosen perceptions, and then I went on to tell him about my biggest fear to let him know that I have fears just like he does.
As human beings, we’re all the same. We all experience similar fears and insecurities. These self doubts just might take on a different shape, size, or color.
I began to dive into a very real fear for me by saying, “I started writing a book last year called, Love All That Is You and as I got deeper and deeper into the content, a lot of fears came up for me. My Ego started asking things like, ‘Who will read your book? How will you get the word out? Who would pay for the same kind of information you offer for free on a daily basis? Who would even want to do your foreword?’ I was terrified of putting myself out there and not getting the response I was hoping for.”
So what did I do?
I stopped writing it.
It was hanging over my head everyday and people kept asking me if I was planning on writing a book. No one knew that I had even begun to write one, but it was almost as if The Uni-verse was sending me daily messages to get back on it!
It wasn’t until I recently mentioned my book to one of the editors at The Daily Love that I got re-inspired to complete it. This woman inspires me greatly, because she has overcome quite a lot with grace and gratitude. Her ways of being and feedback on my blogs reminded me that I have a lot to offer, and to not share it with the world would be a disservice to The Uni-verse.
I soon after declared that I’d have it completed by 5/7/13. My favorite number is 57 so it made sense to me.
Not only did HER feedback remind me that what I have to offer is awesome, but all of YOUR love and comments every week make my heart smile. I love sharing my thoughts with you and my hope is to provide something of value for everyone who reads.
There is no way that I can prove myself right or wrong unless I actually DO put myself out there. But what I know is that my book WILL be successful. Even if if it only saves one life, warms one heart, or expands one vision – I will know that I created something that made a difference. I’m on a mission!
What is a dream for you that you are trying to protect? What are you willing to put on the line for your dream to become a reality? Share your thoughts with me in the comments section below! I love your contributions and appreciate your feedback!
