Manifesting 101!

Happy New Year!

The end of one year and the start of another is a great time to get in touch with what you really want. I’m sure most of you are making New Year’s Resolutions to develop a new skill, habit, or way of daily living.

You probably also hear a lot about “manifesting” as a way to help bring those resolutions to fruition. Whenever I lecture on the how to’s of manifesting, there seems to be a lot of confusion about how to actually do it. I believe that manifesting is simply exercising your ability to harness the power of your intention.

To create the life of your dreams, you need to feel the feelings of already having what you desire.

First, start with visualization.

In order to create what you want in your life, you have to be able to imagine it. For example, visualize yourself in a relationship. Visualize yourself as a non-smoker. Whatever it is, what would your life look like once this new “thing” is there? Don’t focus on what you don’t want. Keep your language and the affirmations positive and focused on what you DO want. (For example, instead of affirming “I am out of debt,” say “I am financially free.”)

To help you get clear on what you want more of in your life, take a Fearless Inventory or, with the approach of the New Year, do my three-list exercise for what you’re leaving in 2012 and what’s coming with you into 2013.

But imagination is not one-dimensional. Once you have the visual, add the sensory element.

Take a few minutes after your daily meditation or before your go to sleep to look at your desire list or vision board. Then, take a deep breath and gently close your eyes, holding the visual in your mind. Next, using all of your senses, conjure the feelings of actually experiencing what you desire. If you desire a partner, feel what it feels like to hold hands with a beloved. If you long to be smoke free, feel what it feels like to tell people you are now a non-smoker.

Simply put, you must:

Know it.
See it.
Feel it.
And Believe it,
To Bring it.

That’s it!

I would love to hear your thoughts about manifesting and what your intentions are for 2013, so please share!

Thank you, it is indeed hard to ‘imagine’ what you have never had in your life.

Agreed my friend but we do imagine it when we long for it so this is just imagining with the feeling of having it <3

I’ve been looking, and applying for a job for months now and have yet to land one. My goal is to have one by the end of January so I can keep up with bills and start saving. To positively affirm my goal of getting a job, should I focus on I will find a job instead of I need a job? I was just wondering what would be the best phrasing.
