Mindful Eating (And Drinking) During The Holidays!

We all feel the pressure to eat, drink and be merry at a million soirees this season so we wanted to give you some of our favorite tips for mindful eating and drinking.  It seems that most people (us included!) have a tendency to put our own needs aside just to be easy and go with the flow at parties and around family.

But the holidays shouldn’t be a time that you completely neglect self-care and allow yourself to mindlessly indulge.  Now more than ever, you should be coddling and caring for #1 (you!)

If you are one of those people that tends to enter the New Year with a resolution to lose weight,  STOP.

It is totally possible to breeze through the holidays without acquiring extra junk in your trunk!  Tweet that.

These four tips will not only get you through the month of December, but help you in any social situation.  Watch and see…

1. Bring something you want to eat!  Bringing something to the party is always a welcome gift and that way you’ll be sure to have a totally healthified option for you to enjoy.

We recommend the HCC Quinoa Salad with Special Sauce.  It travels well and is ALWAYS a winner.

2. When you get to the party give yourself a minute to breathe and take it all in before you b-line to the buffet or pound a cocktail.  Know your options so you feel totally comfortable and confident before you make your food or drink choices.

3. Have something to eat before you head over to your holiday soiree.  Arriving to a party starving is a recipe for becoming hangry (hungry + angry = hangry) and makes it super hard to follow tip #2!  So, make a game plan.  Decide if you’ll just be getting your snack on or plan on fully dining at the gathering.

4. Pick one great thing and go for it!  Just make sure that you absolutely LOVE it (and if the first bite isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, sneakily ditch your dish, we won’t tell!).  Grab your serving and enjoy every single bite.
