Have you noticed the feeling of being overwhelmed from the moment you wake up? How many of you feel the constant pressure and pull of life? For some of us, the world seems to always be calling. Can’t it just be put on silent for just one moment?
Of course it can!
If we create the time to do just that.
So many of us wake up to blaring alarm clocks, text messages, emails, children screaming, and husbands and wives tugging at us from behind. How many mornings would you like to put your head under the cover with a sign that says “OUT OF ORDER” for the next five minutes? Just five minutes. Isn’t it incredible that the thought of five minutes seems like a Caribbean vacation?!
One major complaint I often hear from clients who begin working with me is — they don’t have enough energy and are tired a lot. Most people want to find a quick fix or something they can eat to fix the problem. Of course we look at options to adjust their energy level, but I always invite clients to look at why it is their body may be tired. Most of the time the insights shared have a lot to do with how much they are giving to others (time, energy, focus, etc.).
Our lives are a series of habits that we have learned over time. In order to shift these habits, we must have patience and consistency with ourselves.
As a general rule, to support more energy I always recommend that clients clean up their diet with the 80/20 rule. I work with them to adjust their diets to consume at least 80% whole foods so that their bodies feel supported by the foods that are being consumed. When we eat a lot of processed foods that are hard for our bodies to digest, we end up getting more fatigued. This leads to more sugar and caffeine consumption to keep our body’s energy where we need it to be to get our “to do ” lists done.
Second, I recommend proper hydration — drinking enough water — to keep the body’s physical and mental energy up to speed.
The other thing I initially recommend is really important. First thing in the morning when you wake up, put your left hand on your stomach and your right hand on your chest. Take a few nice deep breaths and ask yourself a very simple question.
What can I do to support myself today?
Take another few breaths and listen for the answer. It is right there waiting for be heard.
By doing the few simple things mentioned above, you will notice your energy begin to rise — and a new level of vitality set in.
Can we try it right now? Put your left hand on your stomach and your right hand on your chest. Gently close your eyes. Take a big deep breath in through the nose and exhale out through the mouth. Do this for a few deep breaths.
Ask your body, “What can I do to support myself today?”
Listen. Shhhh…Your body is talking.
Would you kindly share below what it is saying to you? By you sharing your experience, other people will be inspired to check-in to their own bodies and share as well. Our bodies are wise and innately programmed to heal themselves if we support them in ways that they are asking.
Instead of looking for quick fixes and band-aids, let’s take some time to slow down for a few minutes and listen to what our bodies have to say!
Affirmation of the Day: “My body’s wisdom is incredibly profound.”
I can’t wait to see what your bodies are saying!
From my Heart to yours,
