The World Isn’t How You See It – You Are How You See The World!

by Mastin Kipp on January 23, 2012

After workings with many clients over the past two years and interacting with hundreds of thousands of people over the Internet, there is one pattern that sticks out to me – and it’s shocking.

Almost everyone I meet has a model of how they think the world is, and they are CONVINCED that that IS how the world is. Let’s ignore the 7 billion people on the planet and just talk about the 600,000 folks that TDL and I interact with daily. That means that there are 600,000 people out there who are all convinced that they way they see the world is how the world actually is. I mean, they BELIEVE it. Hardcore.

But, is it actually true? Is the world this way? Could the world be 600,000 or 7 billion different ways? Well, in reality – the world and what happens is what happens, but there are 7 billion different meanings and interpretations of what happens.

Which means that the world isn’t how you see it as much as YOU are how you see the world. This doesn’t mean that there isn’t all kind of crazy weird stuff that happens that is mean, negative or outright evil. We cannot deny that those things happen. But we also cannot deny that we are the meaning makers of our lives and we get to apply the meaning and perspective to everything that we see outside of us.

Everyone has the core fears that they aren’t enough and if they aren’t enough, they won’t be loved. Everyone. And MANY people spend more time looking for evidence about why they aren’t enough than why they are. Did someone reject you or did The Uni-verse guide you to an even BETTER solution? You may have been a victim of a past event that you still identify with as a victim, but can you really be a victim of something that happened in the past unless you allow it in the present?

Is the world the way that you see it? Or are YOU the way that you see the world? Making this distinction will be huge.

What are your top 10 grievances with the world or your life? Are these beliefs actually true? What if they were simply a reflection of YOUR perception rather than actual fact? What would your life be like if you knew that the world was more a reflection of your thoughts rather than the way that you see it? This isn’t to say that we must bury our heads in the sand and just think positive. We have three parts of the mind when it comes to thinking, positive, negative and neutral. All three areas are there for a purpose. But I’m not talking about false optimism, either.

I’m asking you a deep, rich and real question. Can you SEE that the world is less how you see it and that YOU are more how you see the world? Do you see an enemy or someone who deep down is requesting Love? Is the economy holding you back? Or is it the story about the economy that is holding you back? Can you get past the fear and choose your MINDSET over the market?

I’m at Business Mastery with Tony Robbins right now and Tony said something like almost 2/3 of the Fortune 1000 were started in recessions or depressions. That means that there is always an opportunity, if we look for it. But if we are choosing to look for problems and problems only and then blame people for that, we lose our power.

How can YOU take your power back by doing an honest assessment of how you see the world and then questioning if the world is actually that way, or if you are? And if you are that way – is that how you want to be? Or do you want to change it? And if you want to change it – who do you really want to be and why?

Rich questions, lots of debate will ensue I’m sure. I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Send us an email to WhatImgoingThru@TheDailyLove.com or leave a comment!

I’m sending you some daily love,

Mastin

    Hi Mastin,

This is such a true and powerful message. I’ve lived the world “as I see it” (saw it) and it became my world. I had an awakening 11/05/2011 when I was not able to sleep one night. I was still awake at 4 AM. This is after a divorce 12/2007, finding out my ex had a child with his cousin, I started smoking cigarettes that year 07/02/2007 after finding out, then I lost my house 04/2010, lost my perfect credit (my beacon was 7.90+), facing bankruptcy, at the end of the rebound of another relationship I got out of right after my divorce… I allowed all this events to take over and I became my victim story that is, until 11/05/2011. After being awake all night reviewing how not my alimony would also stop and how happy I would be “if I had money to vacation in a tropical paradise” or “if I had money to buy a home in a tropical paradise”… this so I could wake up and be there to witness the sunrise… then flashbulb moment! I live in Miami, a tropical paradise!!! I had been sabotaging myself! I got up off of my bed made coffee, took a shower, threw on my clothes, grabbed my camera, got in my car and drove myself down to Miami Beach. As I did so, I could not stop crying tears of joy and enlightenment! I asked God for forgiveness for my selfish, destructive behavior and I started thanking him for my blessings. It was incredibly powerful. I never take pictures, I came back with 68 AMAZING pictures from my sunrise experience. I have continued to do this at least once a month. It heals me and renews me. I have since started religiously reading your postings and they have made an incredible and amazing change in how I see my world. I have started taking yoga 4 times a week since 11/2011. I also read the Daily Om. Your blog and the D/O are my daily inspirations and things in their likeness. I stopped smoking as well 01/03/2011 prior to my awakening. What is also interesting is I decided to attend a nondenominational church, Trinity by the Bay, here in Miami yesterday and wouldn’t you know, word by words almost your same exact message! Now, is the divine/the Uni-verse is not speaking I don’t know who is. Often times, I’ve felt you are writing your postings specifically for me. Mastin, you’re absolutely right about this posting, as is true about most or all your other ones. Our world is as we decide to live it. Our thoughts become our actions and our actions become our world. Our reality is the one we decide to create. I chose mine to be an amazing, tropical paradise. I hope yours and all the readers continue to also chose beautiful stories and lives. Thank you so much for your service and dedication.

    Namaste :)

Thanks for sharing your story, Mariettamaria! I too have often felt like posts on this site were written specifically for me – it’s incredibly amazing and humbling to realize that so many people are going through the same pain and subsequent breakthroughs at the same time.

Objective reality and subjective reality (Steve Pavlina) – everything is as we see it as we only have our own perception, and sometimes even when you think you are NOT a victim in your life, you still are, if you are giving your power away to someone else and doing things to please another. I am still in the middle of massive change, and not at a point I can email you Mastin and set it all out clearly (there is SO much), but I will one day soon, you are helping to bring me that much closer….I love your clarity and strive to achieve the same. And I love Tony Robbins – in the midst of Unlimited Power, which has changed me drastically!! Thanks! (and tell Tony thanks too!)

    Hi,
Yes, I agree.  It is a constant ACT to keep in the now, focused on the positive and ignore all the negativity (especially during the current positive campaigns).  I wold like to hear more about your discussions with Tony Robbins.
    Thank you. Rose
