There Is Such Beauty In Feeding Our Spirit!

Wouldn’t it be nice not to have so many things in life have to line up before we could feel happy? When things go the way we want, it is so easy to feel happiness and contentment — yet when things are crazy and off kilter, we somehow become miserable.

If the nature of life is constant change, how are we ever going to find happiness? If life is full of change — and one’s happiness is based on certainty or control — how will the two ever fit together? If we are spirits living in a human body — how will we ever be able to find the happiness and peace we so desperately yearn for? Is it even possible?

If we are spirits living in a human body — is it even possible to find happiness here on the earth that we walk — or will we simply have to wait until we die? I believe from the bottom of my soul the answer is we can indeed be happy and content on this earth — but we must know where to seek and find happiness. We must understand that the world in which we live is focused on survival and fear — yet the place our spirit authentically comes from is focused on peace, love, gratitude and understanding.

If we want to be truly happy, doesn’t it make sense to make sure we devote time and energy to things authentic to our spirit? Focusing on things that make us feel connected, loving, peaceful, grateful and understanding — instead of waiting for these feelings to come our way? Doesn’t it make sense that we would fuel these feelings? To create them, instead of waiting for them to happen once in awhile after certain things fall into place?

So many of you reading this will be nodding your head with an underlying question, “Of course this makes sense — and if we know this to be true, why do we not make it a priority to do so? Why do we not prioritize and chisel out the time to focus on that which can get us what we really want and strive everyday to create?”

Does the answer to this question really matter? Or does it matter more to make a change, create a habit — and focus on connecting to things that enrich our spirit — so that we may feel more supported, safe and at home in a world that is not familiar to us?

What things make you feel connected to feeling safe? Full? Excited? Peaceful?
Supported? Relaxed? Connected? Strong? It’s so vital to remember that all of the feelings and experiences we seek sit inside of ourselves — and we need to make sure to fuel them so that we may be able to experience them.

I invite you to take the time to make a list of the things that you can do to feed your spirit. If you would be so kind as to comment back to this blog and share with others, you will give them ideas and inspire them as well. That would be fabulous! Allow yourself to understand that as you partake in spending time devoted consistently to these things of the spirit, you will feel more at home in this crazy world in which we live. You will feel supported by life even if crazy unexpected turns throw your world upside down. This life we live is temporary, yet our spirits soar into eternity. As we commit to focusing on things of the spirit, we will naturally focus less on the drama that sits before us in our lives.

If we truly want to experience connection, love, support and being alive here on our journey of life, let’s ask ourselves every morning — putting our left hand on our stomach and our right hand on our heart, taking a big deep breath in through the nose and exhaling out through the mouth — asking our spirit (not our body), “What can I do to allow myself to feel more alive, supported and loving today?” If you are consistent with this small practice — and take some time to listen — I promise you — you will get some very cool answers.

One of my favorite things on my personal list to feed spirit is to focus on three things I am grateful for every morning and evening. Each evening on Twitter and Facebook I hold Gratitude Parties where people all over the world share three things they are grateful for. Something wonderful happens when we shift our focus on our blessings and away from our problems. Come join me! You are welcome anytime!

This life we live is given to us to enjoy as much as we possibly can.

If we find ourselves bitching and not enjoying the day ahead — let’s remember to stop and reboot our system.

Each and every moment of our lives is truly blessed.

From the bottom of my Heart to yours,
Robin Lee

oh honey that last bit on gratitude is EXACTLY what I have been doing (well not exactly, I normally do ten in the morning and ten before bed when I remember, or any random amount). I don’t know why, I’ve “done gratitude” before and not really noticed any change, but this time around I can DEFINITELY feel the difference and it feels GREAT! Maybe it’s just evolution :) Happy, beautiful days!

I love that you focus on gratitude everyday. That is so awesome! Come join me on twitter and facebook at night so we can get to know each other! :) Love the people that come into those parties. There is such a difference of focusing on gratitude and then feeling gratitude. Enjoy the beauty of the incredible feeling of gratitude! I love it!!!! :) Hope you are enjoying your day! :) #gratitudeheals

    Robin,

I have been following your blogs for a while.  I have appreciated your writings.  Today I am a bit confused by what you have written though.  You state above that: “If the nature of life is constant change, how are we ever going to find happiness? ”.  But a few blogs back you stated that the grass is greener elsewhere.  How do we reconcile these statements?  I am confused by it.

Where do we look for happiness and how do we become content if we are always looking elsewhere for it?  You state:  ”I believe from the bottom of my soul the answer is we can indeed be happy and content on this earth — but we must know where to seek and find happiness.”  But then you don’t mention your thoughts on where you think we should seek.
I would be very interested in hearing them.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out.  In the above  blog I believe I did mention where I thought we should seek.
The paragraph following was a recommendation or idea of how to fuel or find that part of oneself.
“What things make you feel connected to feeling safe? Full? Excited? Peaceful?Supported? Relaxed? Connected? Strong? It’s so vital to remember that all of the feelings and experiences we seek sit inside of ourselves — and we need to make sure to fuel them so that we may be able to experience them. ”
I believe that everything that we want and seek sits inside of our beings–and we simply need to remember to take the time to feed that part of ourself. Kind of the idea as it being  a seed inside of ourself and we must remember to take the time to water it.
As I blog I simply share my thoughts and personal experiences. I am on the same path that you and everyone else is on in this journey called life. Some blogs and the ideas in them people agree with and some they dont.
I love having the experience of complete chaos in life and being able to feel calm and centered. I hope i was able to share that through this blog, because that was my intention. Theree is one place I have found to create happiness-and that is by focusing on things that feed my spirit.
May I ask you to share what fuels your spirit? What you have found that achors you in feeling stable, grounded, and clear in this world that we live? I will respond to your other question in a bit. :) Hope you are having a wonderful day!

the response to your other question for some reason didnt go in reply and went above.

    Hi again,
i understand from my own personal experience in life that happiness comes from within myself. To me,that means that my perspective,my beliefs,my ideas,my perceptions—all create the quality of life that I experience. If I understand your questions correctly, you are asking me if I believe that in my Heart, then why would I say a few blogs back that the grass can be greener? Kind of like, why would one ever make a change ?
If I am really unhappy in a job–I can focus on feeding my spirit, focus communicating my needs to my boss, creating boundaries, etc…—which will naturally create a sense of acceptance and gratitude. It doesnt mean that I will want to stay there forever, thinking it is the only opportunity that I have..Many people choose to just make the most out of things, which is totally good and fine..Many people choose to stay in situations due to fear(and sometimes the fear can be really deep and subconscious)..Some people have an itch to see what the possibilities out there really are.  Have you ever thought the weather was dreary or cold outside and then you opened up the window shades seeing the beautiful sunny blue sky ?
often times what we think is a certain way, simply isnt.
As I mentioned in that grass is greener blog, my father dying made me really understand that the moments of my life were precious. It made me understand that the choices that I made in my life I was fully responsible for–and those choices defined the quality of life that I lived. HIS DEATH TAUGHT ME TO STOP BITCHING AND START LIVING.
So-going back to the job idea—i could stay forever in a job that felt unfulfulling. But why would I want to waste moments of my life when I have done all I felt I could in the given moment to create more  meanining  and support ,and still be left feeling empty inside.
One could say–well, the emptiness would follow into the next job.. I would have to ask,” Do you know that for certain?” And then , if it does—figure out what it really missing inside and do something about it. And if it doesn’t and a door opens to a very creative, inspiring job–how beautiful would that be?
You never really know until you try-right?
The point of that blog is that I believed people when they said the grass wasnt greener–without even looking for myself to see if it was true. I lived alot of my life like that–just doing what people told me what was right to do. The point of that blog was that I was afraid to make changes because I thought the experience was going to be the same as I had been having all along..The point of that blog is I made some huge changes and what I was afraid of– wasnt true.
Dont get me wrong, I am the same and understand even more greatly now that my perception creates my experience. Do I think I could have had a different experience and not made the changes I did..Possibly so. But to think like that serves no purpose. I did make changes and because of those changes many incredible things have happened inside of me and my life. Am i happier than I was a year or two ago? Most definitely. Could I have changed my perspective and found the same happiness without making the changes? I guess I will never know..
ONE THING I HAVE LEARNED IS TO NEVER LOOK BACK. THE OTHER THING I HAVE LEARNED IS THAT WHAT IS MEANT TO BE WILL BE , DESPITE THE ROLLER COASTER RIDE FROM HERE TO THERE.
I am learning and living life just like you. I write to share my process and give people something to think about. Each day I grow and change, just like you.
If a person is unhappy in a job,and can find the courage to believe in himself to move forward and look for something more fullfilling–i certainly hope we would all gather around and be supportive and inspiring to fuel that courage. It takes guts to make change.
We,and only we,know for ourselves, the steps we need to take to create the journey of our life. With each step we have opportunities to learn and grow in ways we never knew imagineable. This moment is so perfect. So many moments I have, and continue to trip and fall down through, horribly missing the signs and lessons along the way. Thank goodness the opportunities never stop..and the grace always follows..and each moment is new and full of opportunity. I hope you have  and will continue to make  many stories to tell of choices you have made to attempt at living your life LARGE! :)
im not sure if that answers your question, but i hope so.
I am grateful for being able to anchor myself in my Spirit to be able to flow with the changes that life is throwing my way.
    Blessings! :)

uh…wow.  That was a bit intense and overwhelming and more than I can digest quickly.  Sounds like I hit some kind of chord or you have alot bottled up inside that you want to get out.  I am not sure I agree with all of it.  Let me sit with it a bit.

Thanks for the answer though.  ;-)
