After leaving corporate America a year ago, and struggling with a major (unexpected) identity crisis, I am pursuing my dream. I’m building a retreat center here on my property in Northern CA. The decision to do this has been profound: before the decision I would go through the day sad and unfocused (even though I live in the place of my dreams), scared to death about my financial future. Now I wake up with a energy, passion and excitement about the day. It’s not been easy, in fact, it is really damn hard. But hard in a good way, which is what you talk about all the time, Mastin. I was the negative guy on the sidelines (though still reading your blog), “yeah, right, easy for him to say” until I got clear about what I need to do, and how I need to do it. I even have renewed energy toward my current job (consulting). Reading your blog every day really helped me (even though I was in a negative place) get to the place of clarity – it is part of my “squad” as I call it (as is therapy, a core group of supporters, spiritual practice…). I liked your blog today because I realize that even though my dream of the retreat are that everyone will leave in bliss, there are some who will hate it. I need to build the muscle to deal with that. So, this is a long way of saying, Thanks Mastin. Keep it up. Reading your blog every day is part of my spiritual practice.
